As per my little plea in the parts wanted section......I'm after an ignition coil for a Fuego Turbo 1565cc.
If I can't get a reply from anyone (UK, US, NZ) soon, I guess it'll be up to good old Aussie aftermarket computers.
I certainly don't need any injection management as the car is carburetored. I need ignition control and a reference to turbo boost.
A computer will maybe be equivalent price to a new original coil and modulator assembly anyway, and would certainly open the way to getting away from the blow through carburetor it has (although at this stage of the cars life the carb seems to be operating just fine).
This is contrary to the Auto Electrician's view on things - he reckons the misfiring problem is carby related and not ignition.
I however don't agree at all because when the engine starts popping and backfiring, I notice that the Tachometer goes on holidays and the needle twitches spasmodically in sympathy.
What do you think?????? _________________ If it wasn't mine I think I'd have to steal it.

Ahhhh........yeah, thanks...for...that....
Anyway guys, I just thought I'd better finish this off with a happy ending.
I finally managed to track down a used coil and ignition module from John at Renault Turbo Spares in UK.
It seems there are no new parts available but the used one I got has been working fine for several months now.
All fixed.
The thing is that it looked like the problem from early on, but I couldn't just grab a new or used part easily and try it. I think this confused the electrician. That makes me wonder about his deductive processes since he then reckoned the problem was carby, even though I told him all the symptoms which to me pointed to ignition.

nope, ignition module may be the reason for all my issues(getting worse) missing, back firing plus it's gone and died on me a few times and not wanted to start. Coil I can get, Jeeps and volvos used the same coil. ign module though, NLA like you said and beyond rare in the US(it's a US spec 1985 2.2L specific module) _________________ 2003 VW Passat wagon 1.8t 56k mi

How did you get on?
Did you find a used part from UK?
Had I not been able to obtain one I would have gone to
