Hi Folks, I'm a Renault collector from Australia with lots of R20s & 12s mostly.  As we never got any diesel Renaults here-only petrol versions, my proposed MAD project is to attempt to install the correct Renault 20 diesel-motor into one of my RHD R20TS cars. Can anyone tell me exactly which diesel-engine was originally used in 1979-83 R20s & Fuegos, as I do know that in other countries these models had a diesel-version.  With the R20, we only got the 1 model=the 2litre-petrol 'TS' version, yet my Owners Handbook has data for both RHD & LHD DIESEL R20s, called R20TD, GTD &GLD. I believe New Zealand got the diesel R20, as well as most of the rest of the world!  Sadly,'RENAULT AUSTRALIA' was not the best outfit in the 1970s-80s & really gave Renaults a bad reputation here, still existing today.
ANY info about the 'correct' diesel-engine, how to install it into a 5spd manual R20-(Bigger 5spd box than Fuego), modifications needed & most important of all, the location of a good diesel-engine I may be able to aquire, will all be most GRATEFULLY appreciated.  I know this may sound a mad idea but a 'diesel-powered R20 would be a great car for rural Australia & RARE!
NO!- its not a Fuego but the R20 is a great 'big brother' to Fuego & a diesel version would be delightful if this project is feasible & not too costly.
I look forward to any replies & of couse, no doubt a Fuego shall enter my collection soon, as I cant resist any bargain Renault!     Merci, Mark, Smile
