I have a very clean reliable 1985 Renault Fuego I got to be a summer toy, but after having the trans fail on my Quantum it's been put into full time duty. Does not seem to bother it one bit, I know a reliable Renault, how odd! but it is! I could keep using it as my daily and I will until I find something else... But I'd hate to kill such a clean car putting 60mi/day on it winter driving etc.
waaaay lots of new parts in it and and comes with a dresser full of spares. it's got Euro headlamps, new power canvas top and it's 100% rust free. Though it has been through a month of winter use now, keeping it as clean as I can so it should be just fine.
Everything but the AC and cruise don't work. cruise I have not looked into. but the AC was converted to R-134a the 'right' way. all new barrier hoses, o-rings, expansion valve etc... worked great all summer until last fall the safety catch on the hood missed the mark and smacked the condenser putting a small hole in it... (If it's not sold by late spring the A/C will be fixed) and it has the keyless entry, factory plip remote entry system, but I don't have any remotes for it, power locks work great and sit should be easy to hook up a modern keyless entry system. Also it doesn't leak ANYTHING(ok other than the freon) all the fluids are bright and clean engine block is super clean (inside stays nice and dry even in the heaviest of down pours.
Passed Maine state inspection last summer, I'm sure it will pass again no problem. I've replaced all 4 ball joints, o2 sensor, front brake pads, Fuel filter and some fuel lines, cleaned a ton of electrical contacts and replaced the radio. Before I owned it it got a new steering rack, fuel pump, crank position sensor, tires, exhaust, radiator, fluids etc. A/C system as mentioned above. may have forgotten a few things too.
It also comes with set of new rotors, two sets of Koni adjustable struts and one set of koni adjustable shocks, NOS water pump, NOS heater core, PW motor, OE radio, spare ECU, tail lights, brake shoes, sealed beam headlight surrounds(no buckets though) Ecodes are way better though an entire spare heatercore/HVAC fan set up. might be some other bits too I can't think of right now
The few little glitches it has window and roof motors are a little slow, gas gauge only goes to 3/4 when full, oil level sender doesn't work(oil pressure does, but can be twitchy) speedometer wiggles and twitches
fast idle + rev. also you can see the oil pressure gauge twitch. this is not actual oil pressure. The sender is dying, and when there's even a small change in pressure it gets all wacked out the oil pressure warning light sender seems to be fine.
