Fuego 5 speed

It is amazing that the Fuego 5 speed transmission is used in so many ways.
From manufactures like Lotus to the many competition specials.
These include Hillclimb and off road specials to Hillman Imps with the Fuego transmission at the back end.
It seems to be able to take a lot of punishment

and makes it harder to find a replacement Wink

The Fuego transmission stood up well to the V6 conversion.
Though I guess anything is breakable if you try hard enough!!

Its not in my nature to do 'slide your foot sideways off the clutch' type takeoffs. That comes from owning and repairing many Triumph cars over the years (we were a parts/repair specialist). To say the transmission componentry was failure-prone would be understating things a bit.
There was a measure of delicacy in the size of shafts and bearings which is not apparent to us in Renault world!

Hi folks - does anyone know how much punishment it will take (max power/torque figures)?

I have a kitcar that uses an NG-3 transaxle driven by a 2.0l Ford Zetec (circa 200 bhp). I am looking at the feasibility of adding a Lysholm supercharger to boost the output to around 300bhp, and I'm pretty sure the standard NG-3 won't like it. If not, are parts available to uprate the NG-3?

Any information much appreciated.

Many thanks,
Jonathon Low.

Welcome to our slowly growing forum.
The Argentinians wwere pumping more than 300 hp though their track versions not sure of torque figure but think it would greater than Zetec.
They were running highly modded carb and injection engines.
You might get some more help here
