Having experienced the quite floppy nature of most 2 Litre engine/transmission fixings, we've found the Turbo to be a revelation of mounting solidity. Very Happy

I think that there was an earlier model (R17???) which had the same transmission and frame pressings and had a mount on either side.

So the previous owner of my daughter's Turbo fabricated an extra transmission mount bracket to bolt into the already tapped (and vacant) holes in the casing on the other side to the standard mount. And yes, there is a place for a mount to bolt into the frame there as well.

A bit of searching for parts may turn up the brackets which do the job, rather than having to fabricate the brackets?

Also, as an aside to this but still to do with mounts - when we had our V6, we needed a wheel alignment after replacing joints and bushes and ride height at the front. So we entrusted it to our local specialist.
The alignment was good and when we picked the car up, the young mechanic who had test driven it said "wow it really goes hard doesn't it?".
We agreed that it went okay, paid the bill, and were out of there.
Then before we'd gotten 100metres down the road it was apparent a (new) engine mount was broken.

Australdi's father -Ken fuego on another forum will be posting soon and he has lots of tech info on engine mounts inc modified front one with diagrammes. Australdi is also very au fait with Fuego mechanicals so we should see some interesting and informative posts.

I have been meaning to build some custom mounts for a while now. The engine bounces al over the place, mounts arn't broken just old and saggy. I can't find new replacments.
